Randall William Rhoads, nascido em Santa Mônica em 6 de dezembro de 1956, deixou esse mundo em 19 de março de 1982. Teve participações nos discos de OZZY, Blizzard of Ozz e Diary of a Madman com Ozzy. Influenciou muito e ainda influencia muita gente, pelo seu estilo, velocidade e a capacidade de juntar a música Erudita com o Heavy Metal, gerando assim seu estilo de tocar guitarra.
Foi um dos grandes pioneiros do heavy metal, o que lhe concedeu, juntamente com a sua habilidade com a guitarra, ser considerado um dos melhores guitarristas que ja passou pela Terra e ser influência para renomados guitarristas. Me lembro bem dele nos primórdios da TV, ou nas primeiras transmissões de clips, com a banda Quiet Riot, onde ele começou. No Riot, participou de dois discos, Quiet Riot I e Quiet Riot II.
Abaixo, texto retirado de jornais da época relatando como ocorreu o acidente que vitimou Rhoads:
Em 19/03/1982, Randy Rhoads, guitarrista da banda de Ozzy Osbourne, com passagem pelo Quiet Riot, morre aos 25 anos quando o avião em que viajava chocou-se ainda no solo com um hangar. No dia anterior, a banda de Ozzy tocava no Civic Coliseum em Knoxville, Tennessee (EUA) e dali iriam para Orlando (Florida) tocar no "Rock Super Bowl XIV" com as bandas Foreigner, Bryan Adams e UFO. A caminho de Orlando passaram pela casa do motorista do ônibus, Andrew Aycock, que vivia em Leesbur (Florida) em Flying Baron Estares. O lugar consistia de três casas, um galpão para avião e uma pista de pouso, cujo dono era Jerry Calhoun. Andrew Aycock precisava de umas peças sobressalentes e pensou em parar ali. Andrew Aycock, que tinha dirigido a noite toda, desde Knoxville, e era piloto, talvez para ser gentil, pegou o avião sem permissão e levou o tecladista Don Airey e o empresário Jat Duncan para dar umas voltas. O certificado médico de Andrew tinha expirado, portanto sua licença para voar não era válida.
Perto das 9 horas, Andrew deixou os dois passageiros e convidou Randy Rhoads e Rachel Youngblood (fazia as maquiagens) para dar umas voltas. O avião voava baixo e passava zunindo perto do estacionamento onde estava o ônibus, talvez para brincar com o pessoal. Há pouco tempo o piloto havia passado por um divórcio sórdido. Acredita-se que quando a ex-esposa dele entrou no ônibus, ele vôou na direção do mesmo. Passaram três vezes. Na quarta, a asa esquerda do avião raspou no teto do ônibus, bateu num pinheiro e caiu na garagem de Jerry Calhoun explodindo e destruindo tudo. Ozzy Osbourne, Tommy Aldrige, Rudy Sarzo e Sharon Arden, que tinham acordado com o primeiro impacto, achavam que se tratava de um acidente na estrada. Wanda Aycock e Don Airey, atônitos, tinham testemunhado tudo. Ozzy ainda correu para prestar socorro. Ele entrou na casa, que estava em chamas, e salvou um homem, mas infelizmente Randy estava morto. Tribute é um álbum lançado por Ozzy Osbourne em 1987 em homenagem a Randy Rhoads. É um álbum ao vivo gravado em 1981,com faixas dos álbuns Blizzard of Ozz e Diary of a Madman (os únicos com participação de Randy Rhoads),de Ozzy Osbourne,e com outras do Black Sabbath.
Randy se foi, mas ficou o seu legado, agradeço a ele pela qualidade e profissionalismo, deixando obras e solos que nunca serão esquecidos.

The previous day, the Ozzy Osbourne band played at the Civic Coliseum in Knoxville, Tennessee (USA) and from there would go to Orlando (Florida) play on "Rock Super Bowl XIV" with the bands Foreigner, Bryan Adams and UFO. On the way home from Orlando went through the bus driver, Andrew Aycock, who lived in Leesburg (Florida) at Flying Baron Am.
